Our Advocacy Meetings address 
 what we can do to help strengthen our School Community

Our Final Advocacy Meeting of the Year will Be 
May 14th 6:30 - 7:30 

Meeting will be held in the Kennedy Library

After the initial meeting we set up an Advocacy Workgroup to help break down the process of how best to do this work. 
There is much that can be done, and you can be a part of this important effort. 

This is the Information we Covered at Our Initial meeting.

 

Here are some ways you can help:

 

At the school Level

Buy Snacks
 for your child’s classroom or for the office to distribute
 
Donate Winter Gear 
New or gently used, donation bin just inside the front door
 Winter Gear Wishlist

Classroom Supplies
Ask your child’s teacher if they need more supplies as we enter second semester.
​
Supply Hand Warmers
 for recess supervisors
 
Donate Clothing
Particularly pants, socks and underwear
​
Volunteer at Kennedy
Help out in your child’s classroom, read with students, help out at lunch and recess.*

Next School Board meeting is December 18 from 6-9pm.
 

At the City Level:

Note: Some Kennedy families east of Sprecher Rd. are in District 16 with Alder Jael Currie.

 

At the State Level:

Ask lawmakers to review and consider updating Wisconsin Act 16 - the revenue limit law.
Start with Rep. Francesca Hong (608) 237-9176 Rep.Hong@legis.wisconsin.gov
But by all means contact all the lawmakers on the education committee!
You can find all of their names and contact info here.
Any time teachers march at the capitol, join in!

About 45% of funding comes from state aid, as opposed to just 7% from the federal level
